Bladder Control Therapy (Sacral Neuromodulation)

The Urology Group of Princeton uses Medtronic Bladder Control Therapy (Sacral Neuromodulation), aka The Interstim® System, to help people, with certain bladder-related conditions, resume everyday normal activities, return to work, and live their lives.

InterStim® Therapy is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a sacral nerve stimulator for the treatment of urinary incontinence, high urinary frequency, and urinary retention.

This therapy, entailing the implantation of a programmable stimulator, delivers a low amplitude electrical stimulation to the sacral nerve (located in the lower back). By stimulating this nerve, a signal is sent that manipulates a contraction within the pelvic floor. Over time these contractions rebuild the strength of the organs and muscles within it and is a proven therapy that targets the communication problem between the brain and the nerves that control the bladder.

Find out if this therapy is right for you by scheduling an evaluation with us.
