Voiding dysfunction includes frequent/urgent urination, incontinence, problems emptying the bladder completely, and recurrent urinary tract infections. Urinary Symptoms can be caused or affected by many other conditions including:
- Urinary tract infection
- Prostate Disorders
- Weakness of Pelvic Muscles
- Neurologic Disorders, including multiple sclerosis, stroke, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and spinal cord injury
- Medical diseases, including Diabetes, Vascular/Heart Disease
- Adverse effects of Medications
- Constipation
We tailor treatment of urinary symptoms to the individual patient. These may include:
- Behavioral Modification
- Medical Management
- Biofeedback/Pelvic Floor Muscle Rehabilitation
- Minimally invasive surgery (suspension/slings)
- Interstim sacral nerve stimulation
Some cases require advanced urologic evaluation of your bladder and outlet (prostate/urethra) in order to evaluate how they store and empty urine. This is called Urodynamics. When performed this can help further evaluate your voiding dysfunction in order to help us modify the medical or surgical treatment of your voiding dysfunction.
