Advancements in minimally invasive surgery

The Urology Group of Princeton is pleased to announce that, this year, The University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro (UMCPP), one of our primary outpatient surgical centers, secured its position on the leading edge of robotic surgery with an investment in the most state-of-the-art robotic console, the “da Vinci Xi” surgical system, which complements their existing “da Vinci Si” robotic console.

As the main urologic presence at UMCPP, the Urology Group of Princeton continues to be at the forefront of robotic surgery in New Jersey with the acquisition of the new robotic surgical system and gains additional capabilities such as Firefly imaging (used in kidney surgery), TilePro Ultrasound integration, single site surgery, and other advanced instrumentation.

We are very proud that Urology Group of Princeton partners, Dr. Alexei Wedmid and Dr. Alex Vukasin, performed the first robotic surgical procedure, with the new “da Vinci Xi” system, at The University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro! As an interesting, related side note, in 2009, Dr. Vukasin also performed the first ever robotic surgery at UMCPP.
